FOOD Biosciences Research Centre (FBRC), one of the nine units under National Agricultural Research Laboratories (NARL) located at Kawanda along Bombo Road. It was formerly Food Science and Technology Research Institute (FOSRI), one of the Research Institutes of the National Agricultural established by the NARO statute in 1992 with the mandate to conduct research in food preservation, processing, storage, quality, safety, hygiene, nutrition and marketing FBRC plays a pivotal role at the interface between primary producers (crops, livestock, fisheries and forestry) and effective optimal industrial utilization of raw material foods as a strategy to fully integrate agriculture into the industrial development of Uganda.
